Psychicpic tries to prove the existence of ghosts by asking questions to the ghosts and waiting for their response. Simultaneously, this procedure, which is to accommodate a specific place or shelter to ghosts, belongs in the context of adorcism. I put myself in the position of the photographer, who had “succeeded” to capture the ghosts and the painting series is a tool in this role-playing. The paintings give me the possibility to observe the viewer; to see how they react to the psychic paintings.
In some aspects, the painting of ghosts brings a parallel question forward, whether a characteristic of ambiguous existence such as a ghost can coexist with the characteristic of symbols invented by humans. The most familiar letters for a human being are combined into a psychic question and the ghosts are embodied with an iconic form of the ghost. This coexisting gives the viewer a possibility to perceive the psychic painting as a means of art, for the correlation between humans and ghosts.
In a reading performance, Swan Lee read out her ghost story next to the paintings and talked with the audience about the perception of psychic existence.
